Transportation Engineer – Entry Level

This opening is for an Entry-Level Transportation Engineer who will work as part of our team, and alongside our clients, to assist with project delivery while obtaining mentorship from a highly supportive and knowledgeable transportation team. This position will assist with delivering a diverse range of traffic and ITS planning, analysis, operations, and design projects.

Candidate must be a highly motivated and talented engineer with a strong interest in transportation projects, as well as someone who wants to make positive change to the way people move throughout our communities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develops technical traffic analysis for safety and operations of all modes
  • Delivers a wide range of projects and engages clients throughout projects
  • Performs alternatives analysis, benefit-to-cost studies, and provides recommendations
  • Prepares documentation and traffic reports
  • Reviews and develops Maintenance of Traffic plans to maintain traffic during construction
  • Designs signing, pavement markings, and traffic signals for local and state agencies
  • Follows our quality control process and helps ensure high caliber work products

Education and/or Experience Requirements:

  • BS Degree (or higher) in Engineering or a related field
  • Engineer with 0-4 years of transportation experience
  • Demonstrated ability writing with excellent grammar skills
  • Exceptional problem solving and communication skills
  • Experience with VISSIM or TransModeler for modeling of transportation networks
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented professional with strong organizational skills
  • A desire to grow personally and professionally with each project while working in a team environment to create designs and drawings supporting our clients’ overall project goals

Construction Engineer/Inspector

Apex is currently leading the design and/or implementation oversight for the technology elements of many of the major projects in Colorado. We work closely with the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT), E-470 Public Highway Authority, High Performance Transportation Enterprise (HPTE), Regional Transportation District (RTD), City and County of Denver, and other local agencies. With those relationships in mind, we are looking for a motivated and talented construction professional that is ready to join our team and engage in projects that are making lives better.
This position will involve a variety of tasks including: monitoring construction activities, performing daily site inspection, reviewing material quantities, pay applications and submittals, checking for conformance to project requirements and design plans, coordinating project activities and reviewing schedules, preparing project documentation, and maintaining communications with the owner. If you have experience with construction, exhibit good communications skills, enjoy a healthy team environment, and are interested in the implementation of technology in transportation, you may be the perfect fit for this position!
Education and/or Experience Requirements

    • BS in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field

Senior Roadway Engineer

The successful candidate will play an important role in the design of numerous major roadway system improvement projects throughout Colorado for state and local public agencies, and federal public-land roadways.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design and analysis of freeways, interstate highways, interchanges, urban and rural roadways, and shared-use trails
  • Serving as Project Manager for design-related projects, providing oversight and mentoring project managers, design engineers, technicians, and support staff to successfully complete a variety of projects
